The Nassau County Pretrial Release Program is an Alternative to Incarceration program that is operated by the Nassau County Probation Department and is designed to provide the court with a pretrial release recommendation and RUS services as an alternative to detention.  The interview process objectively assesses the defendant's qualifications for release through release on his/her own recognizance (ROR), or, where the court determines the risk of absconding to be greater, through release under supervision (RUS). Program operations include screening, eligibility determinations, monitoring functions, where appropriate, and court notification of those who fail to satisfy release requirements.

The Nassau County Defender-Based Advocacy Program is an Alternative to Incarceration program that is designed to provide the court with a sentencing option in lieu of incarceration.

The Nassau ATI program will provide cognitive-behavioral programming and evidence-based services to individuals (male and female) at the Nassau County Correctional Center.  Through a combination of services at the facility and, after release, integrating employment and GED services through transition. The goal of the Nassau ATI program is to reduce recidivism through cognitive-behavioral Interventions.

The Nassau TASC Program serves male and female defendants ages 16+ in Nassau County District and County Courts who have been identified as having a substance use disorder. Defendants must be charged or subject to conviction for a felony or misdemeanor and have been identified as having a substance use disorder toxicology testing, diagnostic screening tools and or jail/prison records.  TASC will accept violent offenders if all parties involved (District Attorney, Judge and Defense Counsel) agree to diversion, the assessment determines that the defendant is suitable for placement in the community and appropriate treatment modality and services are available.

The Nassau EEI project will provide employment-focused services for the probation and court referred clients in Nassau County who are assessed as being high or moderate risk of re-offending and who have low to moderate employment needs. EAC will provide risk, needs and job-readiness assessments, cognitive-behavioral interventions, Ready, Set, Work! groups as a work-readiness training and will partner with the Town of Hempstead Department of Occupational Resources (DOOR) for Hempstead Works Career Center services, specialized employment and training services for offenders, including: veterans, individuals with disabilities, and youth workshops, workshops for using social media in job search Computerized Job Matching, computer workshops for Microsoft Office Programs and on-site job fairs, On-The-Job Training (OJT) with private-sector employers and classroom-based occupational skills training for a variety of demand occupations using courses approved on the NYSDOL Eligible Training Provider List.

The Woman’s Opportunity Rehabilitation Center

The WORC program conducts screening interviews on female offenders with felony cases who are in the Nassau County Correctional Facility and/or Nassau County to assist in the development of client-specific plans. These plans will be presented to the court to recommend that the WORC program, which provides specific community-based services, be used as an alternative to a prison sentence. In addition, the WORC program will provide a comprehensive case-management component to assess the needs of the participants and to provide the services and programs that would most likely result in reducing recidivism and reducing incarceration.
