TASC of Niagara County is an alternative to incarceration program.  The goal of the Niagara TASC Program is to lessen the burden on the local correctional facilities and to provide intervention services so that offenders may become productive members of the community. TASC of Niagara County services are primarily assessment, court advocacy, referrals to substance abuse treatment programs and court monitoring, supported by therapeutic case management.  The goal of the Niagara TASC enhancement program is to reduce recidivism while reducing detention/incarceration. The program will also refer individuals to appropriate behavioral health and substance abuse services designed to reduce recidivism based on risk and need. Participants will be referred to the Probation Department’s Employment-Focused Services (EFS) program if they are in need of and appropriate for Thinking for Change (T4C), Ready Set Work! (RSW!), and employment services.

The goal of this program is to reduce detention/incarceration in the Niagara County Jail by providing criminal court defendants the opportunity to participate in pretrial release services. The program will also attempt to influence a reduction in recidivism rates by avoiding the unnecessary use of pretrial detention for individuals that can be safely managed in the community with the aid of case-management services.  Another goal of this program is to lessen the burden on the local correctional facilities and to provide intervention services so that they may become productive members of the community. The Niagara County Pretrial Services Program works with the local courts to ensure that participants in the program have an opportunity to be rehabilitated. Many of the program participants have multiple issues with both chemical dependency and some with mental health concerns. Through the pretrial services program, participants are given a chance to get the help necessary for recovery.
