ePagesNY

Introduction

The Division of Criminal Justice Services is offering a statewide directory known as ePagesNY to members of the criminal justice community of New York State.

The function of ePagesNY is to enhance verbal, written and electronic communications among criminal justice agencies throughout the state.

The ePagesNY directory is easy to use and provides valuable communication information in a secure manner for members of the criminal justice community.

Through the assistance of ePagesNY, users have the ability to communicate electronically with multiple members simultaneously, regardless of their e-mail systems, or to receive the necessary information for either telephone or written correspondence. It is accessible from any PC with internet access.

Overview

The ePagesNY directory is a free service provided by the Division of Criminal Justice Services to the criminal justice community of New York State. It was designed to enhance communications among criminal justice agencies.

This directory is available to enrolled criminal justice users in a secure manner via the Internet. It provides users with access to names, e-mail addresses and other data concerning criminal justice practitioners enabling them to communicate with individuals or user defined groups.

Access to the ePagesNY directory requires that an individual be employed by a criminal justice agency having jurisdiction within New York State.

Ways ePagesNY can assist you

  • Use ePagesNY information to distribute alerts, photographs, notices on abducted children, wanted persons, sex offenders, and/or missing persons.
  • Contact other criminal justice personnel to exchange business related messages and information.
  • Use addresses to distribute information on conferences, training and seminars.
  • Use addresses to distribute special notices, bulletins or information from your agency.
  • Download individual or subgroups of addresses into your e-mail system to be used for official business.

Enrollment

In order to participate in the ePagesNY directory, at a minimum, the agency must enroll the Chief Executive Officer (or designee) and a Gatekeeper. To maximize the effectiveness of the directory, the full participation of agency staff is strongly encouraged. The Gatekeeper role is responsible for monitoring e-mails and distributing them to the appropriate staff in the agency depending upon the nature of the alert or e-mail.

Individuals enrolling will need to supply the following information:

  • Name
  • Title
  • Agency
  • Address
  • County
  • E-mail Address
  • Phone Number
  • Fax Number

Technical Requirements

The enrolled user must have the following:

  • Internet Access
  • Internet Browser
    — Internet Explorer 4.0 or greater
    — Netscape 4.0 or greater

Data Quality

Each participating agency is required to periodically review its information and notify DCJS of any changes in enrollment or the information contained in the ePagesNY directory. Each agency needs to designate a person who will oversee this process to assure correctness and cooperation of staff.
