This program began operation in 1985. The St. Lawrence Pretrial Program is an Alternative to Incarceration Program run by the St. Lawrence County Probation Department. Where authorized or requested by the Court, the department will monitor and supervise pretrial individuals.

This program began operation in January of 2018. The primary goal centers around the re-introduction of Electronic Monitoring as a viable option for defendants that are moderate to high risk of recidivism that otherwise would not be eligible for pretrial release and would remain in jail while their case remains pending. Additionally, this program provides intensive supervision which can include CBI intervention for pretrial release individuals where appropriate.
