Index Crimes Reported: 2017 – 2021 by County and Agency

Agencies are not included if they have not reported Index Crimes to DCJS or took no reports of Index Crimes during the five-year period.

New York State implemented the FBI’s expanded definition of rape in 2015; this resulted in an uptick in violent crime and reported rapes in that year when compared to prior years. As a result, caution should be used when citing or interpreting any percentage changes between rapes reported in 2015 and any subsequent year, to those reported in 2014 and earlier.  Additional information about this change
