New York State’s Missing Children’s Day Poster Contest Winner
Xiao Qi Chloe Yu, a fifth-grade pupil from Brooklyn, is the winner of this year's contest. The 10-year-old's drawing will represent New York State in the National Missing Children’s Day Poster Contest, an annual competition sponsored by the U.S. Department of Justice.
Yu, who attends P.S. 206 Joseph F. Lamb in Brooklyn, depicted a woman saving a child and ascending a mountain, with a home and a reunited family on the summit. Two hands form a heart on the upper right corner and various shapes show obstacles on the bottom of the artwork.
New York's first-, second- and third-place posters and all qualifying contest entries will be displayed at the Empire State Plaza Concourse in May. The Missing Persons Clearinghouse also coordinates a ceremony in Albany that honors the contest winners.
